Kia serves as the Director of Literacy and Development for The Education Partners, the global consultancy division of GEMS Education. Kia partners with educators and leading organizations to create and deliver transformational curricula and professional learning opportunities to improve student outcomes in literacy and early childhood education.
Kia’s career began as a teacher in the New York City Department of Education. Her expertise includes creating and leading customized blended professional learning cycles; developing recognized research-based reading programs and STEAM resources; directing national initiatives advocating for literacy, equity, and transparency in PreK-12 education; and increasing comprehension via classroom conversations. She has developed literacy programs for at-risk and gifted students and authored Read and Rise: Preparing Our Children for A Lifetime of Success in partnership with Scholastic Inc. and the National Urban League.
Kia earned a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University and a Master of Arts in the Psychological Foundations of Reading from New York University.
